ok, marisa. i don’t really get these things, but if you say so–
“The rules of the game get posted at the beginning. Each player answers the questions about themselves. At the end of the post, the player then tags 5 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know they’ve been tagged and asking them to read your blog. Let the person who tagged you know when you’ve posted your answer.”
1) 10 years ago, I was:
nine years old. not much happens when you’re nine. i did write a list with my best friend at the time, entitled “ten years from now”. my favourite: “Nancy will still be nice. Vanessa will still be weird”– both predictions are true.
in fourth grade i also: failed spanish, led a protest for more time at recess, and got sent home multiple times for wearing heels to school. all signs of things to come.
2) 5 things on my to-do list for today:
-work on secret knitting stuff (not really secret, i just dont want to post on it until i’m more sure that it’ll actually work)
-finish my portfolio– i scanned some photos yesterday, now i just need to clean up the images and upload them
-start packing boxes up again– this one should be pretty easy considering we never fully unpacked
-call our landlord and tell her we’re not renewing our lease. and also that we broke the towel bar in the bathroom. oops 🙂
-clean? go to the gym? do other stuff?……… or maybe just knit more
3) Snacks I enjoy:
krackel, buncha crunch, mars planets, no pudge brownies. pretty much all chocolate. except for chocolate ice cream–ick!
… and reduced fat sour cream and onion pringles
4) Things I would do if I were a billionaire:
i don’t need much money– i was raised to be pretty materialistic and i’m still shedding those habits and a ton of extra crap i don’t need. all i really want in life is a house in NH with mike and our (future) kids. if i was a billionaire, i would open a yarn store/lounge there. with couches and coffee and vintage chandeliers and hanks of yarn hanging on every wall. aside from that, the rest would go to causes we support, like libertarianism, production of electric cars, and local craft groups.
5) Places I have lived:
oy. this is going to be a fun ride down memory lane. i grew up in an apartment in midtown manhattan and pretty much didn’t leave the city for sixteen years. in the past four years, these are the places my husband and i have lived:
-three apartments and a dorm room in new york city
-an apartment, a dorm room, and a house in new orleans, LA
-a house in hemlock farms, PA
-an apartment and a house in virginia
-four apartments in toronto
…that’s fourteen places in four years. have i mentioned we’re moving in august?
6) Jobs I have had:
this list is probably even longer than my apartment one so i won’t make a list or name them all– i’ll just say that i’ve been working since i was pretty young and tend to work three or four jobs at once. i did a lot of computer work in my early teens– i was coding in DOS when i was six and did my first website for pay when i was 12. i rebelled against the idea of being a child prodigy or whatever by taking a job as a badge checker when i was 14. yes, badge checker. i sat outside a pool for eight hours a day (for $4 an hour, i might add). too bad i didn’t knit back there– imagine the progress i could have made!
i also got an internship with a designer, drafting patterns and batik dyeing one-of-a-kind garments. i got banned from a whole bunch of laundromats that year– turns out they don’t like it when you clog their filters with kosher salt
i’ve interned at a cancer clinic, sold crappy clothes for way too much money, worked at a store called “shoe-nami”, refused to answer phones as a receptionist/office manager, and was a merchandising assistant at a chain of fabric warehouses in new jersey. i never lived in new jersey, but i commuted in because i loved the discount.
yawn. i guess that ain’t bad, considering my 20th birthday isn’t for another two weeks. (holy crap- i’m turning 20 in two weeks– wtf, when did this happen?!)
7) Bloggers I am tagging who I will enjoy getting to know better:
-my all-time fave knitting blog– TECHknitting. just for fun. i don’t expect the genius and probably very busy techknitter to respond to my tagging, but wouldn’t that be cool?
–Flowers and Lemons (Do)
–Feather and Fan (Orata)
–miss ewe (Kate)
– and for the sake of non-knitting blogs, The Confederal Sun
